The Municipality of Athens announces the organization of the first Innovation Marathon focused on the digital transformation of Athens and cities, the Apps4Athens Hackathon, with the participation of citizens. This initiative is expected to be a dynamic space for meeting and innovation, inviting participants to create smart solutions that will contribute to the development of cities and the necessary skills to address challenges through technology.

 

The Apps4Athens Hackathon is an open call for collaboration with the innovation and entrepreneurship community of our country and is addressed to every citizen who has ideas and proposals for applications and services that will support the participatory strategy of the Municipality for the development of innovative solutions in important and critical sectors.

 

The Marathon will take place on March 30th and 31st at the Serapeion of the Municipality of Athens. During the Hackathon, participants will have the opportunity to develop and present proposals and applications that will enhance the digital presence of Athens, solving problems and improving the quality of life for citizens. Symbolic cash prizes and opportunities for further development of applications in collaboration with the Municipality and stakeholders from the economy and society are foreseen for the distinguished teams. For all participants, there will be opportunities and possibilities for collaboration and presenting their proposals for applications both to the Municipality and to participating organizations and supporters.

At Apps4Athens Hackathon can participate scientists, engineers, programmers, economists, analysts and in general anyone who has an idea on issues related to the application of new technologies and is interested in developing it. The direction of creating groups between different subjects will be strengthened, as well as collaborations with external participants, such as professionals, academics, researchers or students.

Participation in the Apps4Athens Hackathon is open to all interested parties and represents a unique opportunity for those who wish to contribute to the development of a more innovative and human city. Specifically, participants can include startup companies, engineers, programmers, economists, analysts, researchers, students, and anyone else who has an idea related to the thematic units of the marathon and is interested in developing it into a comprehensive application.
